Bush’s Greenhouse

December 21, 2007

Bush’s Rubix Cube - Courtesy of Daily HaHa (http://www.dailyhaha.com/_pics/Bushes_cube.htm)In a speech given by G.W. about the increasing national standards for greenhouse gas emissions, Georgy boy asked a simple question.

“Is it more effective to let each state make a decision as to how to proceed in curbing greenhouse gases? Or is it more effective to have a national strategy?”

During his speech he went on to defend the idea that the federal government, so wise its ways, knows best what to do in this regard, and also to suggest that the states couldn’t possibly do better.

Aside from the fact that allowing the fed to make state level decisions has proven to be shaky at best, here’s my point: Why not both? Why does it have to be an exclusive “or” statement? Why can’t the Fed set a standard that must be met, and then allow the states to strengthen that standard if they see fit?

But I guess if you’re family money lies in oil, you wouldn’t want people to get TOO heavy on the environment now, would you?

I think this article is pretty funny, CNN reports that Arny and California are going to sue to the federal government to allow them to strengthen their standards beyond the specifications of the Federal government. I never thought I’d say this, but “Go Arny!”.

So lets have it… What are your thoughts?

The big game

December 11, 2007

As I age into the second trimester of my life, I notice that I’m crawling out of my old, teenage/twenty-something angst into a newer, more moderated world view that can only be summarized as my thirty-something angst.

What did I just say?

I thought angst was supposed to die off, and I was suppose to naturally grow to be happy with the world I live in. However, it seems that while I’ve grown to become a higher-educated man, with a career that is hopeful, and a love-life with lots of potential, it has only become easier for me to express my angst with bigger words.

What the hell is my point?

As the elections draw near, I get the distinct impression that the “1st” world approach to things is failing (if it hasn’t already completely failed). This is mostly due to the fact that I see full grown adults, who are supposed to be the leaders of the “free” world, standing up on public T.V. and playing a multi-million dollar, media saturated version of Tattle-Tale. I dare you to count how often you see politicians poking each other in the eye versus how many times they talk about what they can and will actually do for our country.

Aren’t these people supposed to represent us?

If so, why is it that the average American parent scolds their child for playing this well known game, while at the same time voting for and promoting adults who do the same thing. And kids are smart, they can see the inherent hypocrisy. Its no wonder they don’t want to pay attention to us, or the system we are attempting to instill in them, it goes against their grain.

We need to stop playing this game!!

If you’re out there, let me know your thoughts, we need to make this concept bigger, better and stronger… for ourselves… for our families… for our future.

Vick-tory

December 10, 2007

As this is only my second post, you don’t know, but will find that I love pit-bulls. Not because they are some magnificent declaration of my manhood in this world of urbanized fashion, but because they are beautiful and loyal animals. So, today I officially declare a day of Vick-tory.

Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison for his involvement in acts of animal abuse and the perpetuation of the image of pit-bulls as vicious and dangerous animals.

The question still on my mind is, will this entire event open peoples eyes to the fact that pit-bulls themselves are creatures in need of love and nurturing like all others, or will it perpetuate the bigoted fears that have risen around the breed. My hope is that Vick’s conviction has shed enough light that people will realize its the owners that create the beasts, not the animals. Your thoughts?

Thanks Michael, for being such an astounding idiot.

My identity has been confirmed…

December 6, 2007

I’ve come to the recent century and setup a blog for your reading enjoyment, and with that my identity in this world has finally been confirmed. I cannot promise much more than a brain dump from time-to-time. Occasionally I may say something worth repeating, and sometimes I may bore you to tears as you kick your monitor across the room. Either way, I hope to evoke some form of emotion from you as I write down what runs through my personal synaptic network.

Enjoy.
